MORALE INCREASE CONTEST
HOW MUCH MORALE COULD YOU INCREASE IN ONE TURN?
Here is the entry from the winner of this contest:
This is the scenario. Here goes...
Cards in hand 1. Charles Babbage 2. Newton’s Scientific law of motion 3. Benjamin Franklin 4. The North Star 5. Dmitri Mendeleev
Cards I played during round 1 1. Bavarian Illuminati (to double Heliocentric Solar System) 2. Heliocentric Solar System (to quad all knowledge, technology, and document cards that I play) 3. Henry Ford 4. Alessandro Volta Cards I played during round 2 1. Andrew Carnegie (to be doubled by Alessandro Volta, but not yet since I need to double Alessandro Volta with Dmitri Mendeleev before I do this) 2. Charlie Chaplin 3. Yi Soon Sin (discarded by my opponent’s Simo Hayha) 4. Alan B. Shepard (discarded by my opponent’s Jack the Ripper) (discovers China)
Cards I play on third round Charlie Chaplin gives me 100 morale at the start of this turn 1. Charles Babbage 2. Newton’s Law of Motion – Newton’s Law of Motion is quaded because it is a knowledge. 1st use – I pull out printing press which is quaded because it is a technology [2000 Morale]. 2nd use – I pull out Invention of the Pneumatic tire which is quaded because it is a technology [2000 Morale]. 3rd use – I pull out Invention of Ice Cream which is quaded because it is a technology [1600 Morale]. 4th use – I pull out Silver Mining which is quaded because it is a technology [1200 Morale] 3. Benjamin Franklin - (to be doubled by Dmitri Mendeleev). I quad him with Alessandro Volta (this is Volta’s First use, His other use is doubling Andrew Carnegie) and take one technology/knowledge from each of my opponents. 1st use - I take printing press from my opponent (CONSEQUENTLY discarding my own Printing Press) which is quaded for me because it is a technology [2000 Morale]. 2nd use – I take Invention of the Pneumatic Tire from my opponent (CONSEQUENTLY discarding my own Pneumatic Tire) which is quaded for me because it is a technology [2000 Morale]. 3rd use – I take Invention of Ice Cream from my opponent (CONSEQUENTLY discarding my own Invention of Ice Cream) which is quaded for me because it is a technology [1600 Morale] 4th use – I pull out Silver Mining (CONSEQUENTLY discarding my own Silver Mining) which is quaded because it is a technology [1200 Morale]. 4. North Star – North Star is quaded because it is a document [800 Morale]. 1st use – I take Sir Walter Scott from my opponent and pull out the U.S. constitution which is quaded because it is a document [2000 Morale]. 2nd use – I take Zebulon Pike and discover Argentina (I choose to sacrifice 1,000 Strength points) [80
0 Morale]. 3rd use – I take Frank Lloyd Wright to pull out Eiffel Tower. I quad the Eiffel Tower with the doubled Andrew Carnegie [2000 Morale]. 4th use - Elizabeth Blackwell. I revive Yi Soon Sin [700 Morale] and Alan B. Shepard to discover Tonga [600 Morale] with the doubled Elizabeth Blackwell. 5. Dmitri Mendeleev (doubled Benjamin Franklin, Henry Ford, and Elizabeth Blackwell) Notes (PLEASE READ!!) : I did play cards 3,4, and 5 at the same time because that is what you must do with a doubler. If you want to get technical Dmitri Mendeleev can’t be number 5 since I can’t play 5 cards until Ford is doubled and Dmitri is the one that doubled Ford. However, I played them all at the same time. Dmitri M
endeleev can be changed to card 3 or 4; it doesn’t matter since I played cards 3, 4, and 5 at the same time. I'm pretty sure that I counted right and am not exceeding the character-land limit. In case I do my opponent is free to Tunguska/Simo Hayha/Jack the Ripper my cards so that I have enough room. Not sure if this is legal: one of my two lands is Japan so that I gain the use of Silver Mining, Pneumatic Tire, Printing Press, and Invention of Ice Cream (all held by my opponent). That would give me an additional 1700 Morale. However, I am not sure If I can ‘gain the use of’ and then later take technologies with Benjamin Franklin and still enjoy all benefits. If this isn’t legal, I won’t use this ability since I am taking and quading them with Benjamin Franklin, and change that land to Russia. If I counted right, that should be 20,600 Morale. (22,300 if the Japan thing works)
